It should be clear by now that #OWS (hashtag for Occupy Wall Street on Twitter) and homeless refugees in America are natural allies in the struggles for social peace, true liberty and genuine democoracy. In a real way the homeless are refugees from a failed state, refugees from a failed social services system and refugees from what is considered normal American life. Homeless refugees are generally not seen in our TV commercials. Many wish they were just invisible and not glaring reminders of what has gone wrong in America. All homeless refugees should be considered as being of the 99%. In fact, along with prisoners and so-called illegal immigrants, homeless refugees should be in the forefront of the Occupy Wall Street Movement. Many homeless refugees have never owned a house and many formerly homeless folks are often just one paycheck away from being homeless again. Life can be a very fragile day to night existence.
Certainly some liberals who support #OWS do not want to consider homeless refugees as part of the #OWS movement, especially when they attempt to utilize an occupy location for setting up camp and making themselves at home. Please do not take everything personal here. Keep in mind that our homeless refugees have been trying to occupy a place on Mother Earth for them to simply be and exist for a long, long time. In fact, in a real way our homeless refugees were the first occupiers to occupy certain spots in our urban areas, though they are often pushed away from their tempoary campsites with no real place where they can legally 'be' without being charged with illegal camping and trespassing.
Here in Sacramento there is a Safeground Movement that has been trying to establish a legal solid campground for the homeless for a long time. There is still no designated legal Safeground location for our homeless refugees suffering in the inner city, especially on cold rainy nights. The Sacramento Safeground issue presents a tactical complexity and political conundrum for the City of Sacramento and its popular Mayor Kevin Johnson. If the City-County of Sacramento allows a legal campground for Safeground, then why not allow Occupy Sacramento legal grounds for it to occupy Cesar Chavez Plaza Park in downtown Sacramento overnight ~ instead of arresting folks at Occupy Sacramento at night as it presently does?
Authority systems are insane, illogical and doomed to fall in the end because they do not relate and response to the natural desires and natural urges of humane beings. In light of the natural legitimacy of our humane rights the powers-that-be should help facilitate the free expression and free assembly of our general population, not suppress free speech. Have the armed authorities not yet learned from the decades of rebellions in the 60s and 70s that repression breeds further resistance?

The local Emergency Shelters are generally full as usual, it is hard to get in as a client and they have long waiting lists. Let us not ever forget the existence of homeless families with little children with no roof above them. Local Emergency Shelters are more like human warehouses than real humane shelters. Local Emergency Shelters fail to provide the necessary social services required to address the many issues from which homeless folks suffer: no guaranteed income, no affordable housing, no decent employment, no or low formal education levels, drug and alcohol addiction etc. In many cases there are an assortment of mental-spiritual health issues involved in understanding why folks become homeless in the first place. Homeless people need refugee, need a place where they can occupy and bond together in order to help raise self-esteem, develop their survival skills and raise collective mass consciousness.
Keep in mind that homeless refugees are the canary in the mine reminding us of our living now in a failed civilization. The American dream was never realized for many and for so many of us it is a nightmare existence just to stay alive in the streets of Amerika. For a homeless man without a dollar in his pocket and an empty stomach the thought of there being a place where he can camp and occupy for a spell and possibly get a warm meal can seem like a real blessing.
What is the official position for #OWS about homeless refugees, especially when it is supposedly a leaderless movement with no clearly defined list of set demands? #OWS does support the concept of Global Revolution and it will naturally continue to grow, develop and expand. It appeals to the widespread anger, disgust and natural desire for positive social changes in global society. I strongly support the growing resistance movement of Occupy Wall Street, but believe it should widen its scope and broaden its range as a straight up liberation movement striving for socialist democracy.
From the Occupy Wall Street Website ~ http://occupywallst.org/ @OccupyWallSt on Twitter
"Occupy Wall Street is leaderless resistance movement with people of many colors, genders and political persuasions. The one thing we all have in common is that We Are The 99% that will no longer tolerate the greed and corruption of the 1%. We are using the revolutionary Arab Spring tactic to achieve our ends and encourage the use of nonviolence to maximize the safety of all participants.
This #ows movement empowers real people to create real change from the bottom up. We want to see a general assembly in every backyard, on every street corner because we don't need Wall Street and we don't need politicians to build a better society. The only solution is World Revolution!"
We are now involved in a radical revolutionary process that is a lot more basic, essential and fundamental than who will be the next President of the United States. If we look outward on the world with our eyes wide open we can see that there already exists social realities of classes at war, on-going class struggles and critical social contradictions that must be resolved. The two main classes locked in conflict within present-day class society are still the 99% of the 'have-nots' and the 1% of the 'haves'. It is obvious that we cannot be so naive as to expect any solvent solution from a dead-locked Congress whose members themselves are millionaires!
Amerikan electoral politics is controlled by one two-headed monster: the Democratic Party and the Republican Party. We should promote Voter Registration and Voter Education and gear up for the Presidential Election or 2012. Nevertheless, let us not be under any false illusions about the efficacy of traditional electoral politics. We can use political campaigns to support our own progressive people and create open public platforms for raising mass consciousness.
Let there be many political parties representative of various social interests that are actively involved in stirring up the masses. We need to make politics relevant to the people by always keeping in mind our basic survival needs: food, clothing, shelter, medical care and quality education. Our politics should be the politics of survival, the politics of liberation, the politics of meeting the people's basic needs, the politics of fighting for a true democratic socialist society. Certainly our politics must naturally be opposed to the corrupt and greedy politics of corporate capitalism!
In all our continued resistance we must be practical as we seek to exhaust all legal methods of struggle to obtain relief from the mass misery of poverty. We must resist the unjust powers of an illegitimate authority that does not truly represent the people in a true democratic fashion.
We must stay awake, wake up others and continue to raise revolutionary consciousness.
Recall: the ultimate aim of authoritarian fascism is to destroy, defuse or distract all relevant revolutionary consciousness. We need more than a new smiling President or a new corrupt Congress. We need to come together and create a new world via Global Revolution.
Even after any projected Global Revolution there will still be major issues to be addressed and major problems to be solved, especially those involving new humane relationships between peoples with diverse cultural and historical backgrounds. Relevant Global Revolution entails a true transformation of present-day property relations between the 99% of the 'have-nots' and the 1% of the 'haves' on a global level. We need to understand that the existence of the U.S. Amerikan Empire makes it impossible for there to be any real independent sovereign nations. We will need to all work on creating a new world without national identities, without racial barriers and without divisive electrified borders. No one person has all the solutions but working together we can all work on finding solvent solutions to our many global, regional and local problems.
It is clear that we are now blessed with Internet Power in order to reach out to others, to cross artificial borders and to engage in online dialogue via various social networking websites. As part of our increasing our Internet Power we must help provide computers for poor people, promote computer literacy and fight for Free Internet Access for all peoples.
We have barely begun to crash the surface of our mass potential. Our potential is limitless. People are already starving to death who could be fed under a new humane world order projected for the future. Now there is no world order. There is widespread disorder and dysfunction in all of our basic political-economic systems.
Educate yourself. Educate your families. Educate to liberate!
