Capitalism: A Too Expensive Love Story: via Peta_de_Aztlan

I have wanted to go see the new Michael Moore movie Capitalism: A Love Story since I first heard about it some time ago. It is suppose to be a great movie by progressive Director Michael Moore about the evils and insanities of the capitalist system done in his usual intelligent way with good scenes and ironic humor I am sure. I saw the trailer on the Internet via YouTube awhile back and it should be a great movie to watch!

CAPITALISM: A LOVE STORY - TRAILER
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JeROnVUADj0
At first I was going to go with my ‘baby’ Brother Bobby the other week, but it rained hard that day in Sacramento so I canceled out. It is playing at the Crest Theater on the K Street Mall downtown and was going to time out, but they extended it to this Thursday. One recent late afternoon I took the Light-Rail down to the Crest Theater and I saw that a movie theater ticket cost almost $10.00! If I were to get popcorn, soda and a snack it could easy go up to twenty dollars per person. The ol’ walk-in movies are not what they use to be in terms of the cost of a ticket and snack bar expenses.
I remember when we use to be able to go see a sponsored movie at the Tower Theater on 16th & Broadway by chipping in so many Pepsi bottle caps to get in! Those were the good ol’ days! Poor people cannot afford the luxury of going to a walk-in movie these days, though they are a relatively inexpensive form of fun and entertainment for many. Many a love was kindled by a couple going to a movie, maybe even holding hands for the first time! Many young folks love going to the show together with friends. On Saturdays when I was small my parents would send my big Sister Linda and I to the local movies, which gave my Sister and I something fun together to do and gave my parents bonding time at home together. One of my favorite childhood memories was when our little family would pile into my Dad’s ol’ Chevy and we would go to the Drive-In Movie. My Mom would make a bunch of tacos, snacks and soda pops, instead of going to the expensive snack bar. We were one happy family back in those days and it all helped to create family unity. So movies were always a treat for the whole family and people enjoy a good movie.
So as of today I have not seen Capitalism: A Love Story at the local theater. Instead I have decided to wait for the DVD to come out so I can buy it. I plan to view and share it safe at home in my sanctuary with a small group of friends with cheap buttered popcorn and soda pop.
I love Michael Moore and he has a lot going for him and his own company. He has helped to raise mass consciousness and inform public opinion with his several movies and books about government corruption and other important social issues, BUTT one should keep in mind that he is already a happy multi-millionaire. He is reported to treat and pay his staff well, has good health plans for them and it must be meaningful fun to work for him. He is one cool White fat dude. However, I think his for-profit company will do just fine without my hard-earned dollars.
I first read Stupid White Men by Senor Moore a few years ago. At the time I was surprised that someone would write a book with such a title. I bought the DVD movies Sicko and Fahrenheit 911 then watched them with others as I always try to raise consciousness among those around me.
My main criticism of Michael Moore Enterprises is his failure to analyze the ‘s’ word, that is, socialism. I question the contradiction of his not openly advocating the positive merits of true democratic socialism, though he firmly supports vague concepts about democracy. By its very nature a true democracy in these troubled times would at least hint at alternative forms of social economy, namely, democratic socialism.

In fact, the failure of the mass media to openly bring up, discuss and engage in central conversations about the evils of global corporate capitalism versus the merits of a potential global democratic socialism is a prime example of the mass psychology of corporate state fascism and its corporate media being the mass media gatekeepers. The leaders, organizations and proponents of the splintered progressive movement inside the United States need to take heed and educate to elevate mass consciousness about connected reality and all relevant social issues, including democratic socialism in these troubled economic times.
